JICA finances the project for Establishment of Light Rail Transit System in Colombo (CRL) for construction of the Malabe-Fort elevated electric Light Rail Transit line. The said project is classified as “Gender informed” by JICA and requires specific consideration for gender mainstreaming.

The assignment is expected to provide gender related data and analysis to facilitate optimum gender mainstreaming measures to be implemented in the CRL. The deliverables will be utilized for updating the Gender Action Plan drafted by the Project Management Unit of CRL at the Ministry of Megapolis

Therefore, a data collection analysis survey is to be conducted to obtain some key qualitative and quantitative data to determine the optimum measures for gender mainstreaming for the Colombo LRT Project.
