Strong Women and Youth Entrepreneurship and Civil Society in Sri Lanka Project is one of the grant projects currently being implemented by BDS. This project was commenced in 2018 and is expected to complete by September 2020.The project is funded by the German Government. Establishing individual and group based small enterprises among potential beneficiaries in Batticaloa and Ampara Districts is a key invention under this project. The stakeholders of this project can be identified as low-income people/groups, officers from government, non-government, corporate, NGOs as well as the community as a whole.

The direct target group of the project measures are civil society organizations in 30 villages in 10 divisions in the 2 districts of Ampara and Batticaloa in the rural area of eastern Sri Lanka. The project targets a total of 130 leading members of 72 CSOs (including 30 agricultural organizations, “Farmers’ Organizations”, 30 rural development societies for women (“Women´s Rural Development Societies”) und 12 women’s cooperatives (“Women’s Producer Organizations”) and women’s federations at the district level (District Women´s Federations).
