Integrated economic development of Central and Uva provinces of Sri Lanka is a EuropeAid funded project which commenced in 2017 and presently in the third year of active operation. Accordingly, past two and half years, ACTED functioned closely with 320 Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in agricultural value chains (input suppliers, producers, processors, wholesalers and retailers) to facilitate job creation and contribute to poverty alleviation. Many of the entrepreneurs participating in this project are vulnerable individuals, such as women or tea plantation laborer’s, who face numerous difficulties to overcoming poverty. Moreover, the project also attempted to minimize service gaps within the targeted value chains through improvement of the quality of Business Development Services (BDS) by technical training and inter-connecting them to sustain their development; and by engaging Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and government authorities in inclusive and resilient local governance for socio- economic development of the target regions. Overall objective of evaluation is to determine whether current project activities are leading to achieve intended
project objectives, to draw conclusions about lessons learned so far and to refine for rest of the programming.
