The Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission was established in 1991 as the apex body in the technical and vocational education and training sector. Its primary responsibility is policy formulation, planning, quality assurance, coordination and development of tertiary and vocational education in the country.
Over the last decade, the TVEC has been engaged in preparation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) Plans for growing industry sectors with the view of rationalizing training as required by the industry. Automobile industry was also identified for reorientation and coordination of training efforts by private & public sector training institutions in a way that meet skills requirements of the industry. MTS was awarded with the opportunity for Revisions & Updating of Vocational Education and Training (VET) Plan for automobile sector. The assignment included conducting a survey to analyze the training needs of the automobile sector, identify the skills demand, supply analyze the gap and forecast the skills requirement of various occupations/trades for the next five years.
