Sri Lanka Institute of Local Governance (SLILG) emerged as an institute in the background of the search for a developmental vision for Local Government in the country by catering to the requirements of capacity building in the Local Government sector. The emphasis was to consider Local Government as an autonomous, independent sector that could be directly linked to meet the multi-faceted needs of the people through an effective, efficient service delivery.
MTS as the sole consultant, conducted the assignment of Training Module Development for Online Database and Delivery of TOT (Training of Trainers). This assignment was for developing two modules and delivery of training on the database targets on to improve evidence-based decision-making in urban planning. The target area of the said training will be the nine provincial capitals of Colombo, Rathnapura, Galle, Kandy, Badulla, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Trincomalee and Jaffna. The key objective of this assignment is to improve knowledge on centralized database that will be critical in helping the local councils to improve evidence-based decision making in urban planning. It directly aims is to provide better service to the community through knowledge and capacity enhancement.
